“Training camp will be held at The Penn Medicine Philadelphia 76ers Training Complex in Camden, New Jersey on Saturday, Sept. 27 and Sunday, Sept. 28. The 76ers will travel to Abu Dhabi for two contests against the New York Knicks in the NBA Abu Dhabi Games 2025, following practice on Sunday, Sept. 28.”
Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin has an abundance of options as he looks to avenge the League Cup defeat to Kilmarnock when the sides meet in the Premiership on Saturday.
The Tangerines crashed 2-1 at Rugby Park in mid-August just four days after losing their thrilling Conference League qualifier against Rapid Vienna on penalties.
A difficult week which was compounded with injuries to Zac Sapsford, Max Watters, Isaac Pappoe, Ross Graham, Kristijan Trapanovski and Ryan Strain.
Goodwin feels United are much better armed for the latest battle with the return of Ryan Strain and Sapsford, plus the arrival of Nicolaj Moller, as well as an extra three days of training since their last outing, the 2-0 win over Aberdeen.
“People don’t like managers making excuses for defeats and I think sometimes it’s better just to credit the opposition,” he said.
“But we obviously did play two hours against Rapid Vienna on the Thursday, and really had no time whatsoever to turn things around, and had a lack of players available to us as well.
“That’s something that is probably worth mentioning, the options now I have got on the bench.
“The changes that I make during the game don’t weaken the team, which as a manager is fantastic.
“Kilmarnock were the better team on the day when we played them in the League Cup and deserved to knock us out, so we want to show a positive reaction to that one.
“We don’t feel that we did ourselves justice on the day against Killie.
“Kilmarnock are one of the more direct teams in the league. They’ve got two big, tall number nines, physical players at the top end of the pitch.
“It’ll probably be a bit more of a dogfight than what it was against Aberdeen, who try to build from the back and play through the different sections.”
The New York Mets remain in the thick of the National League wild-card race with three games left in the regular season. After an 8-2 victory last night against the Chicago Cubs, they hold a one-game lead over the Cincinnati Reds and a two-game lead over the Arizona Diamondbacks for the league’s final playoff spot.
Amid the race, Mets sluggers Francisco Lindor and Juan Soto made team history. With Lindor’s 30th home run of the season coming last night, both Soto and Lindor have reached 30-30 seasons. It marks only the second time in franchise history that teammates have recorded at least 30 home runs and 30 stolen bases in the same year, following Darryl Strawberry and Howard Johnson in 1987.
That year, Strawberry finished with 39 home runs and 36 stolen bases while Johnson had 36 home runs and 32 stolen bases. Currently, Lindor sits at 30 home runs and 31 stolen bases, while Soto has 43 homers and 36 steals.
Soto is also chasing a 40-40 season, sitting four steals shy of becoming the first player in Mets history to reach the milestone.
In the meantime, New York will have an easier final series than their competitors, on the road against the Miami Marlins. Cincinnati will face the Cubs, while Arizona will wrap up its schedule against the San Diego Padres.
The Mets’ magic number is three, with the Reds holding the head-to-head tiebreaker. New York needs wins or Cincinnati losses to hang onto the final postseason berth.
On this date four years ago Arsenal enjoyed a memorable north London derby victory over Tottenham Hotspur.
The late September meeting in 2021 came after Arsenal had lost the opening three games of the campaign before winning narrowly against Norwich and Burnley to put themselves in a more positive frame of mind ahead of the derby.
And it was there that business really picked up thanks to a 19-minute onslaught.
On this day in 2021: Arsenal scored three goals in the opening 34 minutes to blitz Tottenham to overtake them in the league table, despite losing their opening three matches. 🔊
Enzo Maresca says Cole Palmer will be rested for two to three weeks following persistent problems with a groin injury.
And Maresca says Palmer is now set for a spell out of the team to help him recover.
“We’ve decided to protect Cole a little bit,” Maresca said. “In terms of not letting his injury get worse.
“We decided to rest him for two to three weeks until the international break to see if with that rest he can recover 100% and to be fit after.
“I don’t think he needs surgery but it is just to manage the pain in his groin. We have decided to be a little bit conservative with him.”
Chelsea are also facing problems in the centre of defence, with Wesley Fofana and Tosin set to miss this weekend’s game against Brighton.
Tosin has a calf problem, while Fofana suffered a concussion in the Carabao Cup win over Lincoln City. It leaves Maresca light on options in the middle of defence with Levi Colwill also still out.
But centre-back Benoit Badiashile could come back into contention along with midfielder Romeo Lavia.
Manchester United secure deal for Colombian prospect Cristian Orozco
Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign Cristian Orozco from Fortaleza CEIF. The Colombian midfielder, aged just 17, is set to make the move official once he turns 18 in July 2026, according to The Athletic.
Rising talent from Colombia
Orozco has already represented Colombia at under-17 level, featuring in the CONMEBOL South American U-17 Championship this year. His side reached the final before losing to Brazil on penalties. That campaign underlined his composure in midfield and his ability to operate in high-pressure tournaments.
The teenager currently plays for Fortaleza in Colombia’s top flight. His progress has not gone unnoticed, and United’s decision to act early demonstrates the continued focus on South American youth markets.
United’s wider strategy
Orozco follows a similar path to Diego Leon, who joined from Cerro Porteno earlier this year. Leon’s arrival, worth up to $9m, was another example of United securing talent before it hits peak market value.
The club have also strengthened youth ranks closer to home, with Ayden Heaven and Chido Obi both arriving from Arsenal and already making Premier League debuts.
Looking ahead
Orozco will not link up with the senior squad until 2026, but his signing illustrates the longer-term planning now being carried out at Old Trafford. With Ruben Amorim keen to add depth and competition, the deal could be another piece in reshaping United’s next generation.
Our View – EPL Index Analysis
This feels like another step in building something sustainable rather than short-term. United have been guilty in the past of chasing high-profile names without a coherent plan. Seeing the investment in young players like Orozco suggests there is finally a strategy in place.
Supporters will remember the frustrations of watching rivals develop strong academy products while United’s pathway seemed blocked. Now, with Orozco following the likes of Heaven, Obi and Leon, there is evidence that the structure is shifting. The South American market is tough to navigate, but getting in early often pays off, and fans will hope United have learned lessons from scouting setbacks in the past.
Of course, patience will be required. Orozco will not arrive until 2026, and he may take years before he is ready for regular first team football. But there is comfort in the idea that the club are laying foundations now rather than waiting for problems to arise later.
For fans, it represents hope that Old Trafford will once again see a core of young, hungry players defining the future. If Orozco develops as expected, this could be a signing remembered as part of a much-needed cultural reset.
Bryson DeChambeau’s rise to becoming one of the biggest names in golf has reached beyond the sport itself, all the way to the White House.
DeChambeau has developed a relationship with President Donald Trump, with both sides meeting on each other’s turf. That includes Trump hosting DeChambeau in Washington several times and then meeting him on the golf course for a few rounds.
Here’s a look back at the relationship between DeChambeau and Trump.
Throughout DeChambeau’s career, he has developed a relationship with President Donald Trump and Trump’s family, He also has various ties to the Trump organization.
“I am extremely honored to represent Trump Golf and have the relationship with the Trump Organization that I have,” DeChambeau said. “From Larry Glick, to Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr., the entire team is always behind me 100%, and I am grateful for their support.”
When DeChambeau joined LIV Golf, he played a round of golf with Trump at LIV’s Pro-Am in 2022, along with Dustin Johnson and Eric Trump. Then, after DeChambeau won the U.S. Open in 2024, he celebrated with the Trump family.

Then, less than two months later, Trump joined DeChambeau for a round of “Break 50,” DeChambeau’s YouTube series where he attempts to break a score of 50 on 18 holes with a celebrity or content creator.
Most recently, DeChambeau joined other athletes like Triple H and Harrison Butker as part of the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition.

Dechambeau has met President Trump several times over the course of his career and Trump’s presidency. The golfer has celebrated both of his U.S. Open victories with the Trump family, as DeChambeau and Eric Trump specifically are close.
DeChambeau has also had a relationship with the Trump organization for most of his career, something that has grown as his relationship with the family has grown.
Bryson DeChambeau-Donald Trump ‘Break 50’ golf video
DeChambeau frequently invites celebrities and other content creators onto his “Break 50” YouTube show, and he featured Donald Trump in a video in July 2024. The hour-long video showed DeChambeau playing golf with Trump as they attempted to break 50 from the red tees.
The pair recorded the video at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey.
The Norwegian came off after 76 minutes against Arsenal when he complained of pain in his back, having opened the scoring at the Emirates. Arsenal dominated proceedings however and escaped with a point as neither side made headway in the title race, drawing 1-1.
Haaland missed City’s 2-0 win at Huddersfield Town in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, with manager Pep Guardiola fielding a much-changed team. Goals from Phil Foden and Savinho were enough to progress into the fourth round.

But Guardiola believes the striker will be fit for Burnley’s visit to the Etihad on Saturday, as City hope to recover after a hit-and-miss start to the season. His side sit ninth in the top flight, eight points off leaders Liverpool.
Guardiola said on Tuesday: “Recovery yesterday [Monday], he didn’t train and I didn’t see him and the rest of the players yet today.
“Hopefully he can play at the weekend. It’s been such a demanding week – the last game especially – and sometimes the players have problems.
“I think he will be fine for the weekend. I hope so.”
Guardiola will give a further update on Friday at his pre-match press conference.
Having already complained of fatigue this week, Guardiola’s side face a busy couple of weeks before the international break, with Burnley on Saturday, a Champions League trip to Monaco next Wednesday and a Premier League meeting with Brentford that Sunday.
City are missing Mateo Kovacic, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Omar Marmoush, with the trio expected to return in October, while right-winger Rayan Cherki is expected to be out until November with a thigh issue.
Manchester United have agreed a pre-contract deal to sign Colombian midfielder Cristian Orozco from Fortaleza, but he won’t move to Old Trafford now (h/t Daily Mail).
The new Man United star has already represented Colombia at multiple youth levels.
The future Red Devil was a key figure in the side that reached the final of the CONMEBOL South American Championships earlier this year.
Orozco’s performances at the international level caught the attention of several European clubs, but Manchester United have moved quickly to secure his signature.
Orozco will formally join the Red Devils in July once he turns 18, next July. The 17-year-old defensive midfielder is expected to slot into the academy ranks initially.
However, there is hope he could be fast-tracked into Ruben Amorim’s struggling midfield set-up should he adapt quickly.
Manchester United’s midfield has been a point of weakness this season.
The Red Devils finalised a similar arrangement last year for Paraguayan defender Diego Leon, who joined from Cerro Porteno in the summer for a fee that could rise to £7 million.
Leon is still awaiting his debut but has featured in matchday squads and is regarded as a long-term project.
The club are also running the rule over Senegal Under-17 captain Mouhamed Dabo, currently on trial from Be Sport Academy.
While Orozco looks like a player United can nurture into a future star, Amorim’s midfield rebuild still needs experienced additions.
The club needs mature, Premier League-ready options who can command the centre and deliver in big games.
The Europa League finalists have been eyeing names such as Carlos Baleba, Elliot Anderson, and Adam Wharton.
The Man United recruitment staff are aware that the balance of youth and proven quality will determine whether this midfield evolution succeeds.
