49ers CB Renardo Green suffers injury in third quarter vs. Cardinals

Through the first two weeks of the 2025 season, the San Francisco 49ers have lost several offensive players to injury, including quarterback Brock Purdy, tight end George Kittle and left guard Ben Bartch.

However, on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, it’s been the 49ers‘ defense taking the hits.

After defensive ends Nick Bosa (ruled out) and Mykel Williams (returned before halftime) suffered injuries early, 49ers cornerback Renardo Green went down with an injury following a hit on Cardinals wide receiver Zay Jones after an 18-yard gain.

The team has yet to announce the nature or severity of the injury, but if Green can’t return to the game, San Francisco will be left with Deommodore Lenoir, Upton Stout and Darrell Luter Jr. as the starting cornerbacks and Chase Lucas as the only real backup. They could also continue using safety Ji’Ayir Brown in the big nickel role more frequently.

UPDATE: Green returned to the game later in the third quarter.
